As with every type of broadcasting, there are a certain few who rise to the top of their field and become household names for their audiences and beyond. While the women of the sports broadcasting industry have yet to gain that level of notoriety, there are a few that stick out as representations of what it means to be a woman in this particular industry. The two particular women I looked at are Erin Andrews and Katie Nolan. Their paths to their current positions differ greatly, with Andrews rising to fame in a traditional media environment and Nolan from a digital landscape, but both women exemplify what it takes to make it as a woman in sports media by taking whatever road necessary to achieve their goals.
